Workplace fatigue is a major hazard on the job, as we examined earlier this week. There are many songs about being tired, but the Song of the Week is the Beatles’ ode to insomnia, “I’m So Tired.”
Written by John Lennon while the band was in India on a spiritual retreat, the song captures the singer’s frazzled state after spending many hours in meditation sessions. Three weeks into their retreat with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Lennon was missing home and suffering from insomnia.
“I’m So Tired” was included on the Beatles’ 1968 double album The Beatles (also known as The White Album). Unfortunately, by the time the album was completed, the Beatles were growing tired of each other and within a few years, the band split up.
