On episode 175 of EHS On Tap, Clint Wolfley, Chief Safety Officer at United Cleanup Oak Ridge LLC (UCOR), talks about UCOR’s approach to workplace safety. UCOR recently was named winner of the Moving Beyond Compliance Award as part of the 2023 EHSDA Safety Standout Awards.
Clint Wolfley is UCOR’s Safety Systems and Services Manager. In this role, he is responsible for all environmental, occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, radiological protection, emergency preparedness, safeguards and security, quality assurance, training, and contractor assurance system programs.
Before joining UCOR, Wolfley served as Executive Director of Business Development for the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, Indianapolis, Indiana. In this role, he had oversight for the development, strategy, and implementation efforts for the business development division. He primarily focused on professional certification for ES&H practitioners and certification programs for individual organizations, markets, and industries.
He previously worked for AECOM and its predecessor companies as a Safety and Health Senior Manager for Washington River Protection Solutions LLC, Hanford, Washington. He managed a multi-disciplinary team that provided project management, cost estimating, field operations, industrial hygiene, industrial safety, construction safety, and fire protection support to the operations and infrastructure that encompassed Hanford’s 56 million gallons of highly radioactive and chemical waste.
Also with AECOM, Wolfley also served as the Manager of Environmental Safety and Health for Sellafield Sites in the United Kingdom, where he was responsible for the development and implementation of the S&H program for the decommissioning, demolition, and heavy civil construction projects at the Sellafield Sites.
Other roles he served with AECOM predecessor companies included Construction Engineer Supervisor and Safety and Health Professional at Washington Closure Hanford, and Human Resources Technical Recruiter and Safety and Health Professional with the corporate office in Boise, Idaho.
