EHS On Tap E189: How Nevada Helps Businesses Improve Workplace Safety

On episode 189 of EHS On Tap, Todd Schultz, chief administrative officer, state of Nevada Safety Consultation and Training Section, talks about Nevada’s efforts to help businesses improve workplace safety.

Todd Schultz joined the State of Nevada, Safety Consultation and Training Section (SCATS) as a Safety Specialist in September 2004. He progressed through the ranks to become a Senior Safety Specialist—Consultation in just three short years, becoming the department’s authority on OSHA general industry standards. In July 2010, Schultz was promoted to Consultation Supervisor of the Henderson/Las Vegas office with responsibility of managing seven senior safety consultants and two industrial hygienists. That office conducts nearly 400 OSHA On-site Consultation surveys per year.

In April 2013, Schultz was appointed Chief Administrative Officer for SCATS. He manages all aspects of the Nevada Consultation program at the three office locations in Las Vegas, Reno and Elko.

Schultz is a 2004 graduate of Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety and Health Management. He holds a CSP designation from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, a CSHM from the Institute for Safety and Health Management and is a Certified Public Manager.
